Eloy is about 19 miles from our Casa Grande base, roughly 25 minutes southeast on I-10. Most people know it for Skydive Arizona, which says it has the world's largest fleet of skydiving aircraft and offers RV hookups right at the drop zone. That means we meet a mix of rigs out here, from full-time 55+ residents to jumpers living in a toy hauler for the season. We treat both the same way, a careful hand wash first, then whatever the finish and roof actually need.
We drive out to parks like Silverado RV Resort on Tonto Road, the Picacho / Tucson NW KOA Journey on Picacho Highway, and the RV sites at the skydiving center. South of town, Picacho Peak State Park sits at I-10 Exit 219. Its 1,500-foot peak marks the site of the westernmost Civil War battle in Arizona, and in spring the desert around it fills with wildflowers. The park has its own campground, so it is a popular short hop for RVers already staying near Eloy.
Eloy rigs spend a lot of time on the interstate, and it shows. The front cap and lower panels collect bug splatter, tar and road film on every run between Phoenix and Tucson, and the open desert around town kicks up dust whenever the wind picks up. Bug residue that bakes on in the sun is hard on the finish, so we lift it off gently during the wash, then finish with hand-applied wax, buffed out by machine, so the next wash has an easier start.
